National Associations

Whitehaven and District Beekeepers Association has been in existence for at least 40 years. We have members along the coastal area from Bootle in the South to Distington in the North but are always happy to welcome new members from any parts of Cumbria.

The Whitehaven and District Beekeepers have members from Howgate to Bootle. We meet on alternate Saturday afternoons in the Summer at Members Apiaries to look at the bees and exchange ideas on management and disease control. We meet in the Winter months for educational talks, videos and for social events. The Branch is a small one and relies upon other Branches for their Conventions and courses.

Whitehaven Association News

The Whitehaven Association has a regular series of meetings and courses designed to promote the association and keep members up to date with developments.

Membership Information

Whitehaven Beekeepers Association has three types of membership:

Full Members ~ £25/year due on 1st Jan
This includes Membership of the British Beekeepers Association and their insurance cover for public liability. BBKA News is free to members and comes out five times a year. It is full of information about current events, and up to date guidance notes.

Family Membership ~ £30/year due on 1st Jan
Family membership is open to families (2 adults and all children in the family under the age of 18). It entitles the Family to BBKA membership for one adult with all the insurance cover, and the whole family to the activities and publications of the Branch.

Associate Members ~ £5/year
This includes all the newsletters, invitations to social events, but not membership of the BBKA, and therefore no insurance cover. This is a suitable option for those without bees who wish to maintain contact with the Branch.
